Walter of Ryedale, son and heir of Patrick of Ryedale, has granted and by this his charter established to Melrose Abbey, for the salvation of his soul and the soul of his father and for the souls of all his ancestors and successors, all the donations which his father made to the same monks in the territory of Whitton (ROX), in perpetual alms, by the marches and bounds in the charters of his father. Additionally, he granted to them and by this his charter established all the confirmations of his heirs and all the land which they have from Robert of Barnoldby and from Geoffrey the cook, just as the charters of Robert and Geoffrey and the confirmations of his father testify, quit and unbound from all terrestrial service and custom and secular exaction following the tenor of the aforesaid charters, save the service of Robert and Geoffrey the cook.
