Document 3/359/2 (ESC, no. 33)

Description
Thor the long informs his lord, Earl David, that the latter's brother King Edgar gave him the abandoned land of Ednam, which he inhabited, and he built from the foundations a church that Earl David's brother the king caused to be dedicated in honour of Saint Cuthbert, and donated one ploughgate of land to it. This same church he has given to the monks of Saint Cuthbert for the soul of King Edgar, his lord, and for Earl David's father and mother, and for the salvation of Earl David and King Alexander and Queen Matilda. Wherefore he prays Earl David that as his most beloved lord he would grant this donation to Saint Cuthbert and his monks.
