Description
Richard son of Michael, expensarius of the lord king William, for the welfare of his lord king William and of his son Alexander and of his children, and for the welfare of Kings David and Malcolm and others, has given, granted, and by this his present charter established, to Soutra Hospital, all that land in the territory of Peaston (ELO) by stated bounds, between Crichton and Peaston on the west and between Cranstoun and Peaston on the north, with common pasture of the villa of Peaston and common easements, in free, pure and perpetual alms, free and quit from all secular service, custom and exaction, as free as any alms are given and possessed in the kingdom of Scotland, unless the brothers of Soutra support one chaplain on the aforesaid alms, who will celebrate in perpetuity in the house of Soutra for the living and the dead, and the provision of food and clothing for two brothers.
