Roger, son of Ralph the grieve of Coldingham, for his poverty and for want of the service pertaining to his land, has resigned the whole of his land in Coldingham to the prior and convent of the church of Durham in perpetuity, to wit, the land that Ralph his father had from the gift of the said prior and convent. He has made these resignations in the court of the lord Anketin, prior of Coldingham at Ayton, AD 1239.
