Document 1/27/6 (TNA, C 47/22/9/16)
- Description
- King Edward writes to King Alexander III of Scotland, notifying that the prior and convent of Kirkham claim certain lands and pastures within their ancient manor of Carham (Northumberland), against Ralph of Hadden, knight, of Scotland, who has seized them, and wickedly suggests that they are within Scotland, harrassing the petitioners, capturing their cattle and men. Edward requests that Alexander put a stop to this and make amends by giving them sasine of the disputed lands and pastures and, if he thinks himself aggrieved, to send messengers to him. If that is not done, Edward will apply a remedy by advice of his council.
