Document 1/7/0 (Sayles, SHR 31, 138-9)
- Description
- Alexander, king of Scots, has proposed to reform the fabric of the church of C., by the counsel of good men who were with him on the day of the circumcision of the Lord (1 January); he makes known that he has given and granted to the ‘white canons of Hornobia’ for the works of the said church, from each house of the land, 1d. annually for seven years. He has taken the church into his firm peace and protection and prohibits anyone from impeding this grant or detaining their lands upon forfeiture. He therefore asks his men who were not there that day that they may grant this for the said works, and thus receive godly reward and the gratitude of the king, just as those men who were there with him have done, that is, Thomas de C., and W. del B[ois].
