- In the presence of Sir William, bishop of St Andrews, and his clerks, an amicable agreement was made between O[sbert], abbot of Kelso, and the monks of that place, and William de Vieuxpont, concerning a contraversy, plea and quarrel which William has had against them, namely that William quitclaimed in perpetuity the abbot and monks of Kelso['s responsiblity] concerning the bones of his father which were to be carried back from England and buried in the cemetery of Kelso and all other quarrels which he was said to have against them to this very day, except the quarrel concerning the many sheilings of Dirrington (BWK), which by judicial agreement was then put to rest. And the said abbot and convent, by the deliberation of the Lord Bishop and all senisible men, remitted, to William, for the wellbeing of peace, 30 shillings which was owed to him, and additionally, the abbot gave to William 40 shillings, and he granted the supplication of William in order that the soul of his father may be included specifically and by name, for faithful celebration, among the other special benefactors of the monks of Kelso in a mass within the same monastery in perpetuity.
