- Robert of Polworth, the knight, with the agreement and good will of Beatrice, his wife, for the salvation of his soul and all of his ancestors and successors, has given, granted and by this his present charter established to Kelso Abbey, in free, pure and perpetual alms, three acres of land in the territory of his villa of Wedderlie (BWK), namely the toft and croft which Osbert held in the villa of Wedderlie near the church, in exchange for two acres of land which the monks of Kelso held in the middle of his villa of Wedderlie (BWK) from the gift of the late Gilbert son of Aldan of Hume. In order that the aforesaid may be faithfully observed, he subjects himself, his heirs and successors to the jurisdiction of the bishop of St Andrews and archdeacon of Lothian whoever they may be at that time, in order that they made be able to compel them by ecclesiastical cenure.
