Description
Elias of Brotherstoneside, with the consent of his heir, has given, granted, and by this his charter established, to the new work of Dryburgh Abbey, the croft that was William Hirdeman’s in the villa of Brotherstoneside (BWK), on the northern side, going towards the ditch called Waterdyke, as well as all that land that is between that croft and the exit of the said villa towards the east, in free, pure and perpetual alms, for the souls of Adam his son and others, free and quit from all service, custom and secular exaction, with pasture for 80 sheep and 8 oxen and 4 cows and 2 draught animals.
