- Bernard of Hadden has granted and by this charter established to Kelso Abbey one ploughgate of land which they hold in the villa of Hadden (ROX) and had before which he or Bernard, his uncle, held the same villa, in perpetual alms, by the same marches which they held it before he or Bernard, his uncle, came to Hadden and with every facility. Additionally, he granted to them and established by this his charter from the donation of Bernard, his uncle, a certain toft, in perpetual alms, in his villa of Hadden near their land, in order that all their land in the _villa_ will be free from every service and from every aid, and from every other custom following only tenure and money. Additionally, he granted and established by this charter to them, from the donation of Bernard, his uncle, ten acres of land in the territory of Hadden on the western part of the _villa_. Additionally, he granted to them from another part of the _villa_ land, by stated bounds, which include the land of the monks, in free and perpetual alms. He granted the aforesaid to them for the salvation of his lord, King William, and for the salvation of his soul and his wife and his ancestors and successors.
