Simon, thane of Aberchirder, has given, granted, and established by this his charter, to Sir Cristin, chaplain of the chapel of St ‘Menimii’ (Marnan?) the confessor on the bank of the River Deveron, 4 marks yearly from the mill of Carnousie (BNF) ‘le haylch’ (Haugh) called ‘Dolbrech’ (prob. now Chapel Haugh), by stated bounds, for his (Cristin’s) whole lifetime, in pure and perpetual alms, free and quit from all servile work, exaction and secular demand. He also wills that future chaplains will serve at his selection and ordination, with the counsel of the lord bishop of Moray. He wills also that he will have common pasture for 12 cows and one bull with his (Simon’s) animals.
