- Adam son of Udding of Berwick, for the salvation of his soul and all of his ancestors and successors, and by the consent of Amabel, his spouse, and Margaret, his daughter, has given, granted and by this his charter established to Kelso Abbey half of his whole land in 'Huddinggate' in Berwick, which the monks had been inhabiting and dwelling within, with all the produce, in free, pure and perpetual alms, free and quit from all charges, just as this land which he bought from his father and his brother, the first born son, with his money. His daughter, Margaret, will have half of the facilities of the same land by the boundaries made in the presence of the burgesses of Berwick.
