- An agreement is formed between Abbot Ralph and the convent of Dunfermline and Michael Scott, knight, and heir of Richard of Balwearie, knight, of good memory, whereby the abbot and convent will farm out his millpond of Kirkcaldy (FIF) on the land of Michael in perpetuity as often as they need, and the course of both part of the water, that is, as it runs between Balwearie and 'Invertule' and the water between Balwearie and the land of Milton quit from the said mill. Michael and his heirs shall possess the toft of Roger, the priest, and all the lands in which Richard of Balwearie, knight, was vested and seised when he died, just as Richard held them of the abbot and convent; rendering a pair of white Parisien gloves or 3d. at the feast of the Translation of Blessed Queen Margaret.
