- Description
- An agreement is formed between Nobleman Sir Malise (III), earl of Strathearn, and the abbot and convent of Inchaffray, concerning the increases in the earl’s rents and cains, accrued from the year 1247, in the name of second teinds, due from the gift and grant of the earls of Strathearn, his predecessors. Earl Malise has given, granted and by his charter established to Inchaffray Abbey, on 25 March 1283, in pure and perpetual alms, 20 marks rent from the thanage of Dunning (PER) and from Pitcairns, that is, at Pentecost, 3 marks from Dunning and 5 from Pitcairns, at the Feast of St Peter ad vincula, 4 marks from thanage of Dunning, which were customarily given to the earl himself pro fretelli; and at Martinmas, 3 marks from Dunning and 5 from Pitcairns. He will procure the grant being established by the king’s letters patent, and enrolled in the king’s chapel. The abbot and convent have quitclaimed all right and claim to the augmentations above.
