- An agreement is formed between Queen Ermengarde, mother of the lord King Alexander (II), and Sir Adam of Stawell, over 1000 marks which the lady queen owed Adam of Stawell for the quitclaim, resignation and abjuration of the lands of Coultra (FIF), Balmerino (FIF) and Ardie (FIF), with their liberties and pertinents, and with grain and his own stock (instaurum) that Adam has in the aforesaid lands, made in the court of the lord King Alexander at Forfar on the Sunday after the Feast of St Denis, AD 1225, and over the instruments which Adam and his predecessors had of the aforesaid lands from the kings of Scotland, William and Alexander (II); namely that Adam will hand over faithfully all the instruments made by the aforesaid kings before the first payment of the money by the hand of the Master of the Knights of the Temple of London, 500 marks on the following Christmas and the other 500 marks on the Nativity of John the Baptist (24 June). Moreover, at the time of that payment, the aforesaid instruments and this present writing shall be returned without difficulty to the queen or her messenger. Both parties have sworn to observe this agreement while touching the Holy Gospels.
