G[ilbert], bishop of Caithness, and H[enry], dean of Ross, recite papal letters from Pope Honorius [III] addressed to the bishop of Caithness, the abbot of Kinloss and the dean of Rosemarkie. By the authority of this mandate, they, with their third co-judge, the abbot of Kinloss, who was not present and by his letters patent excused himself from all business, moved by the supplications of their lord, Alexander, king of Scotland and others and by the desire of the chapter of Moray, have postulated the translation of the seat of Moray to the church of Holy Trinity of Elgin.
