- Robert, bishop of Glasgow, and Robert de Brus, earl of Carrick, notify that in the dispute between Gilbert, son of the late Sir Roland of Carrick, knight, and the prioress and convent of the nuns of North Berwick, over the right of patronage of the church of Maybole (AYR) and the lands of the same church, which are vulgarly called ‘oblate lands’ of ‘le red hohc’, whether in ecclesiastical or secular jurisdiction. Bishop Robert, with the consent of his whole chapter, gives, grants and by his pontifical authority establishes the said church and lands to the prioress and nuns. Robert, earl of Carrick, also establishes the church and land to the nuns according to the tenor of their documents. The nuns are to pay 40 marks to Gilbert for good peace.
