Document 4/32/28 (Dryb. Lib., no. 220 )
- Description
- Henry, abbot of Kelso, the prior of Kelso and the rector of the nuns of Eccles Priory recite a letter of Pope Innocent [III], appointing them papal judges-delegate in the case between the abbot and convent of Dryburgh and Alexander, clerk of ‘Colbaynistoun’ (Covington, LAN), Glasgow diocese, concerning certain teinds belonging to the church of Lanark. By the authority of the mandate, the judges called parties to their presence and settled the matter thus: the rector of the church of Covington renounced the right that he asserted to have in the teinds and profits of ‘Clouburn’ and swore a corporeal oath never to move by counsel or assistance against the right of the canons and to observe this composition.
