Document 2/143/58 (Dunf. Reg., no. 285)

Description
Pope Innocent IV writes to the bishops of St Andrews and Glasgow noting that, at the request of the king of Scotland, he had written to the bishops of St Andrews, Dunkeld and Dunblane, commanding them to investigate the life, merits and miracles of St Margaret, queen of Scotland and to reply to him what they found; although they had replied to him, neither the words or the names of witnesses were transmitted to the pope, who was unable to agree to the king’s wish. He thus commands that they inquire into each and every truth, according to the prior letters, and what they find they may narrate it to the pope in writing, under their seals, through a messenger.
