Pope Innocent IV writes to the abbots and convents of the Cistercian order in the kingdom of Scotland noting that through apostolic privilege, they are immune from the exaction of teinds of food for their animals. He has learned from them that certain rectors of churches in certain parishes have undertaken to exact from them the teinds of wool, milk and lambs of their sheep pastured there. He thus forbids anyone from presuming to exact or extort teinds from them.
