- Malise, son of Earl Ferteth, brother of Earl Gilbert of Strathearn, has given, and established by his present charter, to Lindores Abbey, in pure and perpetual alms, for the souls of his father and mother, his ancestors and family, and for the welfare of the souls of himself, his wife Ada, daughter of Earl David, Redgorton (PER) by its right bounds, with all its pertinents, except the mill and its watercourse. He wills and grants that the monks and their men may mill their grain at his mill without any multure, and quit of all secular service, custom and exaction.
