- Gilbert, earl of Strathearn, has given and granted and made firm by this his charter to (the church of) St Mary and Blessed John at Inchaffray and the canons there a portion of the marsh adjacent to the Isle (Inchaffray) in the shire of Fowlis (PER), which was surrounded by a ditch in the year in which this charter was composed, namely 1218; to them and their successors to be held of him and his heirs in pure and perpetual alms, freely, quietly, fully, and with honour, from all secular service and exaction.
