Gilbert, earl of Strathearn, to Brice, judex of the lord king, Bozli, judex of the Mearns, and ‘Morahe Mac enprior’ (Murchad mac an prior) and all others still living who were at the perambulation of the lands of Geoffrey de Maleville and Robert son of Warnebald, notifying them that he and Matthew, bishop of Aberdeen, and Brice, the judex of the lord king, and Murchad mac an prior, and many others, some of whom are living, and others dead, to have been present by precept of the lord king at the perambulation of the land of Geoffrey de Maleville and the land that Robert son of Warnebald holds at present, and that they justly and lawfully perambulated their legitimate boundaries, to the best of their ability, and it was they who were there on the part of the lord king, and that they were assembled there at that time, in union with the oft-mentioned Geoffrey. The earl asks for their salutary counsel as to whether the aforesaid bounds perambulated by worthy and wise men may have been changed.
