- Maldoven, earl of Lennox, has given, granted, and by this his present charter has established, to Malcolm son of Duncan, and Eva, Maldoven’s sister, ‘Glaskell’ (in Campsie parish, STL), Barnego (STL), and a ploughgate and a half at Kilsyth (STL), all by their right bounds, with the advowson of the church of ‘Moniabrocd’ (now Kilsyth, STL), and with all that rightly belongs to it, in feu and heritage, free and quit of any servile exaction, and from all service of conveth, with all pleas and suits, escheats and forfeitures, and all obventions arising within the said lands, saving to the earl that a duel in their court will be adjudicated in the earl’s court and similarly a convicted thief will be hanged at the earl’s gallows, for an annual render of some gilt spurs at the Glasgow fair, for all services, customs, exactions and demands.
