- Description
- Roland son of Uhtred has given, granted, and established by his charter, to Holm Cultram Abbey, in free, pure and perpetual alms, a saltworks in Southerness (in Kirkbean ph., KCB) and similarly a fishery between ‘Polben’ and Southwick (in Colvend ph., KCB), except the land of Robert son of Simon, and one acre of land where they can build their house, and common pasture for 12 cows with their calves, and one bull, four oxen and two horses, and all necessary easements of his wood, for the support of the saltpans as well as the fishery, and right of way for coming and going to their grange of Kirkgunzeon (KCB), without impediment. All of this he has given and granted for the soul of King David, and others.
