Niall (‘Nigellus’), earl of Carrick, has granted for himself and his heirs, and has by this his present charter established in perpetuity, to Roland of Carrick and his heirs, that the same and his heirs should be the head of his whole kindred, whether in challenges or in other articles and negotiations pertaining to the ‘cenn cenail’. Roland will have the office of baillie and the leadership of the earl’s men in the aforesaid land, under the earl and his heirs, in perpetuity, without any contradiction or revocation.
