Description
Alexander, king of Scots, for Dunfermline Abbey; has received them under his firm peace and protection; wherefore he forbids anyone from causing any injury or trouble to them, on pain of king's full forfeiture. He has also granted to them that no-one may take poinds from them or their men for any debt, pledge or forfeiture other than for their own debts, pledges or forfeitures, except in king's burghs. He also commands his justices, sheriffs, grieves and their bailies that all those in their bailiaries or burghs who owe debts to abbot and convent of Dunfermline be compelled to pay those debts that abbot and convent or their attorney are able reasonably to prove before them.
