- Description
- The prior of St Andrews to community of Berwick: Since Sir Robert de Cougale, chamberlain of Berwick, has recently informed him by his letters that they have custody of a letter detailing (renotantam) the presentation given to Sir Richard of Hogton, sealed with the seal of the king of England which is used in the Kingdom of Scotland; he asks them that the same letter together with attestations of witnessess of receipts against the inquisition made by Master John of Wedale be sent to him by the bearer of the this letter; he reminds them that he is owed over 40s. and asks that the said sum of money be sent to him with all haste, as much for honour as to avoid injury, as St Andrews priory is at present in great need of money; Gilbert of Lumsdaine is to be excommunicated from day to day as surety for them.
