Description
Abbot Ralph and convent of Dunfermline for John the armour-bearer ('Armigero'), Peter, son of Adam, Thomas, son of Bernard, Richard of Kirkland, Magote de Craggy, John Ffloker and Eve, daughter of John Harloth; have given them 8 oars on passenger ferry called 'new ferry'. Note also that John the armour-bearer and his heirs or assignees, excepting religious men, has two oars of same ferry and each of others have one. Moreover, abbot grants to Susanne, John's spouse, that if she survives, she has two oars for her lifetime, answering annually to Dunfermline of same ferme, after whose death, two oars will revert to John's heirs. Rendering annually for other eight oars 8d., and making their rent for 'Moehal' (FIF?) for existing time which they are accustomed to making and rendering rents of ferry passage for old rent. When any one of them shall die, his successor shall duplicate his rent, and doing fealty, he shall have sasine of his oar
