- Abbot Archibald and convent of Dunfermline make known that Marcormi and Edmund, and Michael, son and heir of Edmund and brothers and sisters of same Michael, Mervyn, Gillemichael, Malmuren, Gillecrist, Gillemahagu and all of their families [in Tweeddale], are free men and are in peace of Dunfermline, and with its licence they remain in whatever place they shall be, therefore, free and quit just as their predecessors were with all their posterity, whom King David gave to Dunfermline with Carberry (ELO) in perpetual alms, giving to Dunfermline a yearly rent of one two-year old ox or 4s.
