- Description
- David, bishop of St Andrews, for Arbroath Abbey; makes known that since parishioners of Clova are too far from mother church of Glamis (ANG), by his council and with authority and assent of abbot and convent of Arbroath, who have church of Glamis, he ordains for sustenance of chaplain residing and serving chapel of Clova 20s., half a chalder of flour, all hides of animals slaughtered, for alms which they owe yearly to chaplain, that is, 10s. at feast of Assumption of BVM and 10s. at feast of St Martin in hyeme, and half chalder within feast of Purification of BVM. The monks have also granted to chaplain one house next to chapel with a croft and one acre of land. The bishop grants them burial in chapel and reception of the sacraments, saving what is owed to mother church of Glamis.
