Description
N[icholas], archdeacon of Teviotdale, W[illiam], archdeacon of St Andrews and chancellor of the king, Roger of Aberdeen and Adam of Dertford, canons of the church of Glasgow, confirm the observance of the customs of Salisbury which William, late bishop of Glasgow, and the canons there granted by the assent and consent of all the chapter. If the whole or a major part of the chapter wishes to alter any of the customs of Salisbury; they shall undertake to observe these changes in virtue of their oath. Whoever shall be [bishop?], during the first year of his promotion, he will move to his palace beyond the castle of Glasgow and will assign the whole place for the canons’ residence and since the canons’ residence is not sufficient, to the other canons who remain he will assign in the first year of his promotion a competent location elsewhere for the construction of a residence. All of them swear to uphold this promise.
