David, king of Scots, has given his beloved and faithful John Herries, knight, all the lands of Kirkgunzeon, which belonged to Holm Cultram abbey, in the sheriffdom of Dumfries; holding in feu and heritage, with annual renders of their arrears and the saltcoats, according to reformed agreement between his kingdom and England. And he licences the said knight to convene with meet with the religious men, over the right that they claim in the said lands, and to form an agreement, which the king wishes to approve and ratify; saving the king's service.
