- Description
- David, king of Scots, to James Stewart of Kellie, noting that he commanded James by his letters to desist from attacking or causing injuries to Arbroath abbey or their men, lands or goods, and to make satisfaction for these, and noting that he has failed to do this and has captured and incarcerated certain of the abbey's men, and refusing to free them without pledges and payments, and noting that he had summoned James to compear in the king's presence at Aberdeen on 6 September, and that he failed to do this, the king now orders him to cease causing injury to Arbroath abbey and its men, and from distraining their men or compelling them to give pledges, and the king absolves those men and their pledges and renders them immune. All those who oppose and do contrary to this command shall reputed as his traitors and rebels.
