David, king of Scots, through his council held at Dundee on the 12 November AD 1347, it was resolved that the burgesses and merchants of his realm should have a merchandise staple at Middelburg in Zeeland, and it was unanimously agreed that the merchants of Scotland should negotiate with the merchants of Middelburg, and the king ratifies and approves the agreement or contract. These letters patent are established for one year from the following Easter.
