Document 1/54/96 (RRS, vi, no. 91)
- Description
- David, king of Scots, to his grieves and baillies of the burgh of Rutherglen, noting that in the time of Akexander III and his other predecessors the kings of Scots, the church of Glasgow was accustomed to receive from the burgh ferme of Rutherglen (LAN) 40s for the lighting of that church, 100s to support a chaplain there, and six marks to support a deacon and subdeacon there. Since these ministers, the chaplain, deacon and subdeacon, are currently having to run to the king's chamber every year at their own expense and to the detriment of the worship of God, he commands and firmly instructs that these sums be paid without delay.
