Biography
Kelly, Oxford Dictionary of Popes, 199-200: Adrian, born Ottobuono Fieschi in Genoa, was from the family of the counts of Lavagna, and was a nephew of Innocent IV. He held offices in Rheims, Paris and Parma before Innocent created him cardinal-deacon of S. Adriano in 1251. He was legate in England in 1265, returning in June 1268. He was elected to the papacy at Viterbo on 12 July 1276 but died on 18 August without being ordained priest, consecrated or crowned. He is buried in S. Francesco.
