Leo I, pope (d.461)

Biography
Kelly, Oxford Dictionary of Popes, 43-45: Leo, also known as Leo the Great, was born in the late fourth century to Tuscan parents, though his birth probably took place in Rome. He was a deacon under Celestine I and Sixtus III. He was consecrated pope on 29 September 440 at Rome. He died on 10 November 461 and was buried in the porch of St Peter’s church, being translating to the interior in 688. His feast day is 10 November and 18 February.
