Kelly, Oxford Dictionary of Popes, 160-161: Paschal, born Rainerius, was born at Bieda di Galeata in the Romagna, Italy and became a monk at an unidentified community. He was appointed abbot of S. Lorenzo fuori le Mura by Pope Gregory VII and around 1078 was made cardinal-priest of S Clemente. He was elected pope after the death of Urban II and was consecrated on 13 August 1099 until his death, at Castel Sant’Angelo, Rome, on 21 January 1118.
