Watt, Graduates, 8: Peter de Alinton may have been from England (Allington) or France (Alençon). He may have been a clerk by 1224, before becoming Master in 1235. He was sent by Alexander II to York to appeal against the election of Odo to the bishopric of Galloway in 1235. Peter was appointed as archdeacon of Teviotdale (Glasgow diocese) in January × March 1238, serving until his death in 1242. He also appears as a mandatory for a papal provisor in 1240. He may be the same as Peter, vicar and chaplain of Glasgow, who appears 1226-27 and c.1227×28. (Watt and Murray, Fasti, 226, has no additional information)
