Richard Fossard (of Jedburgh) (Master)
- Biography
- Watt, Graduates, 201: Richard occurs as Master in 1281 in an act of William Fraser and again on 15 March 1290/1. He is probably of English origin as a family of this name appears in Yorkshire in the 12th century. He is probably the same man of his name who held lands in Roxburgh in 1300, and perhaps the same as the man who performed fealty to Edward I in 1296, though the latter was a layman and may in fact be a relative of Master Richard. He may also be the same as a Master Richard of Tyninghame who witnesses St Andrews charters in the early 1290s and Feb. 1295.
