Andrew, judex (le Jugeor)

Biography
Andrew is identified by G.W.S. Barrow as a judex or breitheamh (Kingdom of the Scots), 2nd edn, 63. The use of the Old French or Norman French le jugeor or le jugger, rather than the usual juge, may be an attempt to translate dempster or deemster (ME demstere), one who announces rather than makes the judicial decision. Andrew is called 'le Demsterre' in Palgrave, _Docs. Hist. Scot._, p. 306.
