‘Third’ seal of Patrick, earl of Dunbar (d.1289), appended to charters of 1261. This single-sided seal depicts the earl’s arms of a lion *rampant*, within an *orle* of cinquefoils (according to the Durham catalogue) or roses (according to Stevenson and Wood). To the *dexter* of the shield is a scroll ornament, and to *sinister* is a *wyvern*.

Notes
Described by Stevenson and Wood as Earl Patrick's third seal, the small size and non-equestrian design suggest that it was a personal seal, as opposed to larger type used habitually.
