Dating Notes
As Stringer points out, the dating clause of this charter (3 Feb. 1231 at Clackmannan), which is the same as RRS, iii, no. 166, cannot be correct. The dates here are provided by Walter Comyn acting as earl of Menteith and the appearance of Walter son of Alan (II), who died in 1241. The possible date suggested relates to a dispute between the abbey and Laurence of Abernethy.
