- The witnesses to this document, Sirs Reginald le Chene, Andrew of Garioch, Richard of Balwearie, Thomas of Rattray, William of Lothian (Laudonia) and William of ‘Rochnach’, knights, may date to the thirteenth century. Note that an Andrew of Garioch (probably of the Leslie family) was sheriff of Aberdeen in the 1260s. It is uncertain whether Reginald le Chene is the father or son of that name. Sir Richard of Balwearie fl. in the mid-13th century.
