W[illiam] and R[obert], bishops of St Andrews and Glasgow, [Duncan], earl of Fife, Alexander Comyn, earl of Buchan, constable and justiciar of Scotia, John Comyn and James Stewart of Scotland, Guardians of the realm of Scotland, elected [by the community] of the same, write to Sir Edmund, earl of Cornwall, guardian of England, noting that they hold firm what the lord E[dward, king] of England and he wish that the uses and customs between the two realms of England and Scotland, practiced for a long time, shall be observed. There is a custom between the realms that widows given in marriage, having lands and tenements in both realms, who wish to remarry with the consent of the prince and king of the realm in which they live shall do so; and Andrew […], knight, and Euphemia, his wife, [have suffered] great injustice of their lands and goods through Thomas de Normanville, knight, escheator of the king of England, against the old uses and customs, [the addressees ask that] Edmund may wish to intervene [so that] the said Andrew and his wife may hold the lands and tenements peacefully and quietly.
