Document 4/20/67 (Kel. Lib., no. 196)

Description
During the feast of Easter in 1311, it was agreed between the abbot and convent of the monastery of Kelso and Adam of Dowane, senior, that Adam resigned to the abbot and convent all his land which he has at the Greenrig within their barony of Lesmahagow (LAN), and he returned it, by rod and staff. For this resignation, it will be conveyed to Adam, within their house of Lesmahagow, the sustenance of one servant in the victuals, and one robe or one […] of sterling, by the will of the prior of Lesmahagow. Adam will provide suit of court in the earldom of Lanark for the abbot and convent, and he will save them from all things relating to the suit as long as he may have the power of his body and mental wellbeing. When he has become impotent and the suit is no longer to be made, he will receive for his robe only one-half mark or one garment per year. And he will similarly hold their pleas of Lesmahagow when this may be required by the prior [of Lesmahagow]. (damaged)
