Description
Richard de Moreville, constable of the king of Scots, has received at ferme from Sir Ingram, bishop of Glasgow, his land of ‘Gillemurestun’ (Eddleston, PEB), except the church, to hold for himself and his heirs from the church of Glasgow from the feast of Pentecost, 1070 [sic 1170] for 15 years, and he has given to the said Bishop Ingram 300 marks. The said bishop shall defend his land following what his charter bears. Richard has sworn on the Gospels that at the end of that time, he will return all the land, once called ‘Peniacob’, to the bishop.
