Description
Ness son of John of London has given, granted, and by this his present charter established, to Newbattle Abbey, for the souls of King William of pious memory, of Earl Patrick (I) of Dunbar, of himself, and of his uncle Ness, in pure and perpetual alms, a half ploughgate of land in his feu of Fortune (ELO), by stated bounds, as perambulated in the presence of himself, William Noble, Alan of ‘Craghope’, William Noble [?], John (of Moray) brother of Ness, Alan, steward of Ness, and other good men, holding free and quit from all service, custom and secular exaction.
