Description
David of Lindsey, son of David of Lindsey, for the souls of himself, his ancestors and successors, and specially for the soul of his brother Walter of Lindsey, has given, granted, and by this his present charter established to Newbattle Abbey in free, pure and perpetual alms, his saltpan with adjacent land which he has in Carse (STL), i.e., that which King William of pious memory gave his grandfather William of Lindsey, with all pertinents, easements and liberties, on land and on sea.
